Pangasinan’s home, fashion, and lifestyle sector is more than just a collection of businesses—it’s a testament to the province’s enduring craftsmanship and creative spirit. Each company has a unique story, yet all share the same dedication to quality and artistry that elevates Filipino heritage. From bespoke furniture to export-quality cigars and traditional handicrafts, these MSMEs have placed Pangasinan on the map as a hub for artisanal products and sustainable luxury.
Founded in 1985 by Rodrigo Sibayan, Sibayan Handicrafts is the oldest and largest handicraft maker in Manaoag, Pangasinan. Rodrigo, who mastered the art of basket weaving at a young age, has transformed the business into a thriving enterprise that reaches international markets like the US and Japan. Specializing in rattan, buri, and abaca baskets, Sibayan Handicrafts’ products are sought after for their durability and finely finished designs.
Their baskets, often used as hampers, dining wares, or bases for holiday gift sets, are made from locally sourced materials such as “Uway” (pole rattan) and “Iit” (Buri palm) to ensure that every product is not only beautiful but also sturdy—hence the one-word description of their brand, MATIBAY. Supporting 12 skilled artisans, the business continues to promote sustainable local materials and traditional craftsmanship.
Brent Shoes by Venancio is more than just a shoe shop—it’s a legacy. Established by Venancio Medina in Dagupan, this shoemaking business is the oldest surviving shop of its kind in the area. Venancio, who learned the craft from his uncle in Tarlac, has been designing and handcrafting shoes for decades. Using only high-quality materials sourced from Marikina, Brent Shoes specializes in low-cut shoes, formal footwear, and boots.
Each shoe is designed and meticulously handcrafted by Venancio himself, ensuring that every piece meets his exacting standards of quality. This dedication has earned Brent Shoes a loyal following, with some customers returning even after ten years to have their shoes repaired. The business, supported by three skilled workers, continues to thrive during peak seasons such as school openings and corporate order months.
With a legacy that dates back to 1980, 3M Furniture is known for its mastery in custom furniture making, known locally as “Pasadya.” Owned by Melchor Sinocruz, who inherited the craft from his father, the business specializes in creating bespoke furniture pieces that meet clients’ specific designs and preferences. Using only Mahogany wood, 3M Furniture crafts a variety of products, from cabinets and dining sets to bed frames and mirrors.
What sets 3M Furniture apart is its ability to produce fine finishes and incorporate manual sculpting into its designs, making each piece a work of art. Supported by nine direct workers, the workshop is the largest in Dagupan, capable of handling large orders while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
The home, fashion, and lifestyle companies of Pangasinan are more than just businesses—they are custodians of Filipino heritage and artistry. Each product, from the sturdy rattan baskets of Sibayan Handicrafts to the elegant steel art of Aguinaldo Interiors, is a celebration of craftsmanship passed down through generations. As they continue to grow and innovate, these MSMEs not only preserve traditional skills but also bring Filipino artistry to the global stage, one handcrafted product at a time.
